Ice Eater P750 3/4 HP Pond & Dock De-Icer

The Ice Eater P750 is a powerful 3/4 HP de-icer designed to protect docks, boats, piers and other waterfront structures from damaging winter ice. Moving approximately 1,150 gallons of water per minute, the P750 circulates relatively warmer subsurface water toward the surface to help prevent ice formation where protection is needed.

The P750 is a good step up from the 1/2 HP P500 for larger docks, more demanding winter conditions and applications where additional water movement is desirable, while still operating on standard 115V power.

Is the Ice Eater P750 Right for Your Application?

The P750 combines a 3/4 HP motor with the high-volume, directional water movement that distinguishes the Ice Eater design. Its axial-flow propeller operates inside a shroud that helps direct moving water toward the dock, boat or structure you're trying to protect.

Consider the P750 for:

• Larger residential docks and piers
• Boats left in the water during freezing weather
• Larger boat slips and multiple dock pilings
• Colder climates and more demanding winter conditions
• Applications requiring greater water movement than the P500
• Freshwater or saltwater installations

How the Ice Eater P750 Works

The P750 doesn't use a heating element to melt ice. Its axial-flow propeller draws relatively warmer water from below and directs that water toward the surface. Continuous circulation helps prevent ice formation and reduces pressure from expanding and shifting ice around docks, pilings and boats.

A heavy-duty PVC Venturi-style shroud surrounds the propeller and helps concentrate and direct the water flow. Properly positioning that flow is an important part of effective de-icing.

The P750 moves approximately 1,150 gallons of water per minute, providing substantial circulation for larger or more demanding winter applications.

How Much Open Water Will the P750 Maintain?

The amount of open water created by any de-icer varies considerably with winter conditions. Air temperature, water depth, mounting depth and angle, currents, surrounding structures and other site conditions all influence performance.

For that reason, we recommend using published coverage figures as sizing guidance rather than a guarantee. The objective is usually not to create the largest possible opening in the ice, but to direct moving water toward the dock, pilings, boat or other structure requiring protection.

Two Ways to Mount the P750

Suspension Ropes

The P750 can be suspended from a dock, pier or other secure structure using the included suspension ropes. This is a simple and economical installation method when fixed attachment points are available.

Adjustable Dock Mount

The P750 is compatible with the Power House Large Dock Mount. The mount allows you to control the depth, direction and angle of the Ice Eater rather than simply suspending it beneath the dock.

The dock mount provides 360-degree positioning and angle adjustment in 20-degree increments from horizontal to vertical. This can be particularly useful when directing water along a dock, beneath a boat or through a slip.

The Ice Eater arrives assembled and ready for installation. The adjustable dock mount, thermostat and other accessories are available separately.

Freshwater & Saltwater Use

The P750 can be used in both freshwater and saltwater applications. A sacrificial aluminum anode helps protect the unit against corrosion and should be inspected periodically and replaced as it deteriorates, particularly in saltwater installations.

Should You Add a Thermostat?

An optional Power House thermostat can automatically operate the Ice Eater as air temperatures fall and rise. Rather than operating continuously during warmer weather, the de-icer can remain ready to run when freezing conditions require it.

For many seasonal installations, thermostatic operation can reduce unnecessary run time and electrical consumption while maintaining winter protection.

P500 vs. P750 vs. P1000

Choosing an Ice Eater should be based on the size and configuration of the area being protected, winter conditions and how the unit will be positioned.

• P500 – 1/2 HP: A versatile choice for smaller to moderate residential docks, boats and targeted de-icing applications.
• P750 – 3/4 HP: A strong step up for larger docks, colder conditions and applications requiring additional water movement.
• P1000 – 1 HP: The largest Ice Eater in the standard lineup for applications where maximum water-moving capacity is desired.

For complicated docks, multiple slips or marina applications, multiple strategically positioned de-icers may provide better protection than simply installing one larger unit. Proper water direction and placement are critical.

Installation & Safety

The P750 can operate in relatively shallow water, but proper placement is important. Position the unit so its moving water reaches the dock, pilings, boat or other structure you're trying to protect.

Always connect the de-icer to a properly installed GFCI-protected circuit and follow the manufacturer's electrical and installation instructions.

De-icers intentionally create open water and areas of thin ice. Clearly mark or restrict access to the de-iced area where people, pets, snowmobiles or other traffic could encounter unsafe ice.
