The basic principles of aeration remain the same.
The way we apply them to an individual pond may not.
That's why we recommend sizing the aeration system around the actual pond rather than simply the state or acreage.
Pond Aeration and Texas Fishing Ponds
Many Texas pond owners manage their ponds primarily for fishing.
Largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and other warm-water species are common in managed ponds.
Fish need adequate dissolved oxygen, but maintaining good oxygen conditions also benefits the broader biological system supporting the fishery.
Aeration can help expand usable habitat in ponds where deeper water becomes oxygen depleted.
It can also support aerobic decomposition and improve conditions for microorganisms involved in nutrient cycling.

A surface aerator may be appropriate when maximizing oxygen transfer in relatively shallow water is the primary goal.
And some ponds benefit from a combination.
